Building Legos: A Lesson In Perseverance & Focus

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! This week I am going to be talking about Lego. Lego is a company that creates legos, which are pieces that you put together to create something amazing. One can play with Legos or even just admire them. In my opinion, building a Lego is an amazing activity and is great for not just building a material object, but also values.

I got a Lego for my birthday, but it wasn’t just any ordinary Lego. It was a Lego wildflower bouquet, and it was absolutely gorgeous. However, it was rated 18+ and I thought of that as a challenge, to test my ability with Lego. On my birthday, my dad gave me that lego as his present and I was really excited to start building it. When I first started building the lego, it was a bit confusing at first, since I wasn’t used to building with circular pieces. I was more used to building with rectangular pieces.

Another challenge that I faced was that my fingers became very sore and very red. Within 1 hour, it started to hurt a bit. However, I didn’t give up. Instead, I kept on working, reminding myself of the goal. Even though at first it was confusing and my hands hurt, it was still a fun process. Of course, there were some problems, but it was still great entertainment and a beautiful creation.

I think that Lego is amazing, because it is not only fun, but you develop new values and skills. Firstly, you develop perseverance. If the tiniest little thing is wrong, you have to pull it apart and restart from scratch. To restart the entire thing and redo it requires perseverance, so Lego does help develop that. Also, Lego helps develop focus. When building lego, you need an immense amount of focus so you can create and finish what you started. Finally, Lego develops patience. While building lego, it is guaranteed that you will take a long time to finish it. That’s why Lego develops patience. I personally think that building Lego is an amazing activity, and I hope all of you continue to build Lego and develop more of these values in your heart.
