Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I was thinking about leaders and it struck me that in most companies, practically all leaders are male. There are very few female leaders in companies, which I was really surprised by. There have been several female leaders in the past, such as Hillary Clinton, Jacinda Ardern and many more. Each female leader has made a huge impact on the world, changing it for the better.
Also, a lot of world issues in the past were solved by women. For example, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton played a significant role in the suffragette movement and Ruth Bader Ginsberg did a lot to help women achieve equality. As an example, Susan B. Anthony changed the world when she aimed to help women get the right to vote. She worked hard to achieve her dream and finally achieved it, even though she was not alive to see it. Another example is Harriet Tubman, who had a very difficult life. She was first born a slave, before finally escaping years later, and helped other slaves escape as well, which really remarkable.
So I interviewed my mom’s best friend, who is a very senior leader in a large tech company. I asked her several questions, which I will share the answers to. I started by asking what she enjoys about her job, and she said that she enjoys helping people who use the software. I then asked her what positive impact she thinks she is making and she replied that she thinks she is helping people who use the company services, as she can help elevate their experience and use. Finally, I asked her what she hopes little girls will look up to her as. She said that she hoped that she would be seen as a role model, a successful woman and a person who was self-made. I personally love that answer, because I think that is really inspiring and powerful.
I completely support female role models, for their courage, bravery and skill. I also hope that all of you will encourage female role models, or possibly become one yourself.
