Festival Choir: An Incredible Experience

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Just yesterday, my school had a Festival Choir, in which I participated. Personally, it was truly an amazing experience. Let’s rewind. A few months ago, I auditioned for Festival Choir. I spent weeks practising my audition piece, and then I felt ready. I ended up getting a spot in the choir, and I was extremely excited.

We learned a lot of new songs over the last two months, and it was really fun! However, yesterday was the actual festival. Although the actual festival was at 4, rehearsal started at 12. We spent time figuring out arrangements for seating and we went through all of the songs. The songs that we sang were Love Is Love, We Walk In Love, Mairi’s Wedding and Let Everything That Hath Breath. The festival was a success. We performed 4 songs, all of which were amazing songs.

I truly thought that this was a spectacular experience for many reasons. It was a great experience, getting to sing with older middle schoolers as well as high schoolers. We even sang with the SAS Singers, which is a group with very few people, and is the most elite singing group in SAS.

Another reason this was a special experience was the guest director, Dr. Daniel Alfonso. He is a choir director at California State University Stanislaus and is Brazilian-American. He was really nice and supportive, and really helped the entire choir. He actually composed 2 of the songs and they really had a deep meaning. What I really love is that at the end of the choir, he talked about peace and love, and how it is so important to have that. In fact, Matthew Donnelly once said “ Love is the purest form of a soul at peace “. I really love that quote, and I think it really shows how important those are. After all, we should be able to go about our day and love and cherish everyone and everything, and have a world filled with peace. This was truly an incredible experience for me, and I hope all of you also have such experiences based on your passions.
