Hi! Welcome back to my blog! As you know, it is now 2024, so Happy New Year! This week, I’m going to be talking about my trip in Oman. We went to Oman a few weeks ago in December, and it was fantastic! Along with me were my mom, my sister, my mom’s best friend (who has been her best friend since college) and her two daughters. It was really fun getting to do all these amazing activities with them! Now, let me share the details of our wonderful journey with you.
We started our journey in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Let me talk about some of the places that we saw. We first saw the Royal Opera House, which I found fascinating. It was beautifully decorated, and I found it to be really fun. We also went to a souk, which is a market. There were a variety of shops, and we were looking around a lot. I found it to be really unique! I got a new hat, and we also got some incense and a scarf. Personally, I thought it was a really cool experience. Getting to walk around the souk was especially interesting given the fact that it was really different compared to the markets in Singapore.
The other place in Muscat that we got to experience was the Mosque. I found it to be quite interesting, because we got to experience a different religion that we were not familiar with, and I found it to be quite an engaging activity. In Social Studies, we got to learn about different religions, and I also felt like this holiday opened up an entirely different kind of experience. It also allowed us to get to learn more about the beliefs of Islam. It is important to understand that different religions have their own beliefs, and it is important to follow and respect them, especially at places of worship.
On our second day in Muscat, we went to Wadi Shab, which was just spectacular. When we arrived there, we first took a small boat and got to the start of the hike. We hiked for roughly about an hour. It was fantastic! During the entire hike, we were surrounded by beautiful rock formations, boulders and water features. I think that the most spectacular part of this is the fact that everything was completely natural and made by nature. There was human involvement in making it beautiful. That’s the beauty and the magic of Wadi Shab.
After Muscat, we headed to the desert! To be honest, I think that the desert was my favorite experience in Oman. Let me explain. Our hotel was in the middle of the desert, and it was spectacular! During the day, we did quite a few things. Firstly, we went on a desert hike! We got to hike up and down the sand dunes, which I found to be amazing. I just feel having such a unique and majestic experience is truly special.
The final place that we went to in Oman is the mountains, otherwise known as Jabal Akhdar. It was fantastic! We got to go on several hikes, which displayed the beauty of the valley below. One of the highlights from the mountains for me was Diana’s Point. In case you don’t know, Princess Diana and King Charles (Prince Charles at that time) visited that mountain, and called it the most beautiful place on Earth, which is why it’s called Diana’s point. Looking back on it now, I can understand why she said that. It was truly extraordinary. Personally, I think that my trip to Oman was magnificent. It is an undiscovered natural gem, and I hope that I continue to go on holidays as magnificent as this one.
