Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be talking about perseverance, a very important value to me. My mom, my sister, two other families and I all went together to Bath this weekend. In Bath, we went to the Abbey, and walked around the streets and saw the Bath Carnival. We also saw the Roman Baths. On our way back to London, we went to Stonehenge.
One important fact about the Roman Baths and Stonehenge is that they were built a long time ago. The Roman Baths were built around 2,000 years ago, and Stonehenge was built 5,000 years ago. In fact, the stones were carried all the way from Wales. To bring it all the way from Wales to Stonehenge must have taken a lot of perseverance! Also, both of these things were built several millennia ago and our ancestors would not have had our modern day technology. To create all these monuments with ancient tools must have been very hard. I think that also represents perseverance.
One place I really liked in Bath was the Jane Austen Centre. One day before we went there, I got the book Emma by Jane Austen as a gift from my mom’s friend. At the Jane Austen Centre, we got to dress up in old fashioned clothes, write with a quill and ink and learn all about Jane Austen. One thing that I find really inspirational about her story is how she became an author and got her books published. At the time, women were not allowed to pursue a career but Jane still wrote books, even when she was battling Hodgkin’s disease, a type of cancer. Even though she was very ill, she continued to write, not letting anything stop her. That's perseverance.
Oprah Winfrey once said “ Perseverance is the key to success. Never give up and keep making efforts. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock “. I absolutely love that quote, because it really defines what perseverance means. I personally think that perseverance is a really important value in life, and I hope that all of you also keep this value in your heart.
Great blog, Navya. We felt as if we travelled along with you to those places. Yes. We have to learn perseverance from Jane Austen and others. The ancient installations display the amount of perseverance practised by the people of those times.—Thatha & Paatti.
