Hi! Welcome back to my blog! For the next few weeks, I will be talking about various inspiring people, such as Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and more.
Today, I will be talking about Susan B. Anthony. As you know, she was well known for all her devotion and contribution to women’s rights. When I was in 3rd Grade, I read a book about her, and I personally felt very inspired by her. Let me first tell you a little bit about Susan B. Anthony.
She was born on February 15, 1820, in Massachusetts. Growing up, she was the 2nd oldest of 7 siblings. When she was 28, she worked at her family farm. However, after a few years, she realised that she was not interested in that, but was extremely interested in reform work. From then on, she became a public speaker, and was dependent on the money she got from that to live her life.
Susan B. Anthony has done several things to support women’s rights. Firstly, she gave hundreds of speeches about women’s rights, inspiring women from all around the world. She also gathered thousands of signatures for petitions, to attempt to achieve her goal. Her goal was to get women the right to vote, and to have equal rights as men.
What I admire about her is the fact that she was willing to sacrifice practically everything to achieve her goal. After all, she would have had no time to spend with her family. She was even arrested once!
Her story is so inspiring, and the thing I love the most is the fact that she made an enormous impact, even though she wasn’t alive to see it as she had passed away by the time women were given the right to vote. A lot of progress in women’s rights is because of the foundation she laid. I think that Susan B. Anthony is a very inspiring woman, and I hope all of you also admire the amazing impact she made.
