Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be talking about one of my favourite movies, The Greatest Showman. The reason I like the movie a lot is because there are several interesting themes and morals. Let’s go explore some of them!
One theme is focused on following your dreams and not giving up. P.T Barnum dreamed about making a difference; he then followed his dream and eventually achieved it. Even though the road was long and bumpy with many challenges and roadblocks, he made it to the end and created a very popular circus. Another example is P.T Barnum’s daughter, Caroline. She followed her dream of being a ballerina and achieved it by becoming the best ballerina in her school. Even though other girls made fun of her, Caroline did not give up and continued pursuing her dreams.
Another theme is acceptance and tolerance towards everyone. When the various performers started performing at P.T Barnum’s circus, the audience hadn’t accepted them at first. They made fun of the fact that they were different and unique. After a while, they accepted them for who they were within. Helen Keller once said “The highest result of education is tolerance” . The quote means that it is extremely important to accept the differences in other people.
One final theme is discrimination and the importance of diversity. All the performers in P.T Barnum’s circus are discriminated against for various reasons, including looks, race, ability and more. As Kofi Annan said ,” We may have different religions, different languages, different coloured skin, but we all belong to one human race “. As human beings, we must accept people of different races, looks and talents. We must take pride in the diversity of humanity.
I believe that the movie The Greatest Showman is a wonderful movie with many great themes, and I hope all of you continue to treasure these themes in your heart.
