Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be sharing a book review of a book that I read and some details about the book. I recently readThe Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, and I really enjoyed the book!
The Red Pyramid is based on Egyptian Mythology, and is super interesting! The main characters, Carter and Sadie Kane are siblings. After their father blows up the ancient Rosetta Stone and gets trapped in a coffin, they both realise that there is a reason for the mysterious events of their past. However, there is a problem. As they begin to investigate, they learn that their father unleashed Set, the Egyptian god of chaos. Soon enough, Carter and Sadie are on the run, moving from place to place. With a goddess on their side, they both soon learn to harness and use magic, with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. As their ba, or soul, explores the Duat, otherwise known as the magical realm, they begin to realise they need to challenge Set, the Egyptian god of chaos. As they train and encounter challenges along the way, Carter and Sadie only get stronger and stronger. At the end, there is a huge plot twist that will completely change your perspective on the entire story.
There are several things that I really like about this book. Let me share with you some of my favourite aspects. Firstly, I really like the writing style. The actual book is designed in a way that there is first person narration (by Carter and Sadie themselves). By doing so, there is a balance between narration and dialogue, which I find extremely interesting to read. The narration basically transitions to dialogue and a more in-the-moment type of story-telling.
I also really enjoyed the plot twists in the story. It really changed my perspective and it was not only incredibly surprising but also highly entertaining and super exciting! In fact, all these factors are tempting me to read the second book.
The last aspect that really made me like this book is the characters! After all, characters are a huge part of a story and give life to it. I find the way that Rick Riordan developed his characters to be really amazing. He is able to make the characters come to life, and feel real so you build a connection with them and they become a memorable part of the story. This is a super thrilling story of adventure, magic and mythology, and I strongly suggest that you read it soon!
