Theatre: A Source Of Inspiration For Me

Inspiration. What a powerful thing it is. In fact, I recently found a beautiful quote on inspiration, which is by someone anonymous but is wonderful. It says “Inspiration is the quiet whisper of the soul that awakens us to our deepest dreams. It transforms doubt into belief and inertia into action. True inspiration fuels a blazing fire of passion and purpose, connecting us to boundless possibilities. Embracing inspiration, we transcend the ordinary, turning challenges into opportunities and every moment into a chance to create something beautiful” This quote has stuck with me since, and there is something that recently resonated with me. Let me explain.

As you know, I’ve been enjoying my trip in London, and last week, my mom, sister and I went and watched a play and a musical. Let’s start with the play. The play was The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, and it was fantastic! The play has been running for 72 years, and our show was the 29,676th show. I know, that's a lot of shows !

The play is about a guesthouse run by Molly and Giles Ralston, which hosts several guests. These guests are Christopher Wren, Mrs Boyle, Major Metcalf, Ms Casewell and Mr Paravicini. One night, Mrs Boyle is found dead in the living room. Detective Sergeant Trotter comes to the guest house, and explains that he is here because of a murder. In London, a woman by the name of Maureen Lyon was murdered. She was a mother to three kids, whom she adopted, and she and her husband treated them very poorly. They were both put in jail, but her husband was beaten up and died in prison. She got out of jail, but died in London. On her body, there was a paper that had two addresses, one of the house where she died and another with the address of the guesthouse. As a result, the sergeant had come to the house to investigate and see if anyone was related to the murder.

I found it to be super thrilling and also comedic at some points of time. I really enjoyed it! Looking back on that quote, it also inspired me to work harder and improve on my acting. Watching that performance made me more determined to work even harder.

Now, let’s move onto the musical. For the musical, we saw Wicked, and it was absolutely wonderful! This was a musical, so it included singing, acting and dancing. The two main protagonists were Elphaba, a girl with green skin who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West and Galinda, who becomes Glinda the Good. The story featured their love lives and the unlikely friendship that is formed between the two of them. All the sets were magnificent, the acting was amazing and the singing was absolutely spectacular. I loved it!

For me, as I watched these talented actors and singers, it made me feel inspired. As I watched their performances and scenes, I thought to myself,”This is how I want to be in the future. This is the level of talent I want to aspire to someday.” I know that is a very ambitious goal, but I want to try my hardest to get as far as I can. Singing and acting is something I do and am trying to constantly get better at and improve at. After watching the play and the musical, I am now more determined than ever to get better at my singing and acting. I believe that inspiration plays a big role in our lives, and I hope you experience the same as well.
