Xin chào! That means hello in Vietnamese. Welcome back to my blog! This week, I am in Vietnam! It is a beautiful country, and I’m going to tell you all about my experience during my holiday.
I am on this vacation with my mom, little sister, grandparents, grand-aunt and grand-uncle. We are staying in a hotel in Danang, called Hyatt Regency. It is an amazing resort, overlooking the beach. Our room is just as spectacular, with several amenities. As for communication, it has been quite challenging, as none of us speaks or understands Vietnamese and many people don’t understand English.
We also went to the ancient village of Hoi An, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it was a really fun experience! There were shops and selling carts around, and each store had something different to offer. At one store, my little sister got a hat and I got a bag. My mom and the shopkeeper were talking quite a bit . Later, I asked her what she was talking about to the shopkeeper and she said that she figured out that the shopkeeper was single and has two children, so she could relate a lot. Another place we went to in Vietnam is the tailor, since the tailors are really talented here. In fact, I am getting 2 gorgeous dresses stitched !
Yesterday, we had an interesting experience. We couldn’t find our car which had our grandparents in it and we were really worried. We tried to get the car to come to us, but it was not able to due to traffic restrictions. They finally had to take an electric tram to come to us. We ended up walking more than 20 minutes to the restaurant, and when we did, we figured out that it was full. We were standing outside while my mom was ordering our food, so it would be ready by the time the table was ready. I was literally sitting on a suitcase, anxious about dinner. Thankfully, we were able to get a table in the next 10 minutes, and sat down. I was starving by then, and was thankful to be eating. At the end of it, we were able to find an electric tram to take us to the car, and we were able to reach back to the resort safely. Even though it was not what we had planned, we were able to stay calm and find a solution. Things may not always go according to plan but I believe that it is important to deal with any situation that arises. That is the main lesson I learnt yesterday.
I am looking forward to going back to Singapore tomorrow and I hope you have a great week!
